EBay Addiction

That's what I called it. I was hoping that by calling it an addiction I would stick with it. I'd been hearing a lot about people making money buying and selling with eBay and it seemed easy enough.

I started by buying a Macbook, i think that's what it was called. It was fairly cheap, just over $100 and my first computer. I figured I'd need a computer if I was going to be doing business on the internet plus I wanted somewhere to store photos besides on the CDs that I made at the local Kinkos.

When I was making my first eBay purchase it gave me an option to buy an AirPort card. I asked my roommate and my friend downstairs if they thought I needed one. We all decided I didn't go to the airport enough to justify spending $50 on it and when I do I wouldn't take a computer with me anyway. It wasn't the early 90's or anything, it was a little more than a decade later, but like I said it was my first computer and I was use to just going to school and using the computer lab.

Well when the computer arrived I learned that an AirPort card was the key to my wireless internet connection. My genius idea with getting a laptop was so I could carry it around and do business anywhere, around the house or elsewhere. Due to the age of the laptop I quickly found out it was more expensive and harder to find an AirPort card on it's own. And so I remained, stuck to a wall.

My second eBay flop was when I ordered a pair of hiking pants. I ordered them for me, an adult. When I got them not only did they not fit me but they fit the 11 year old boy I was mentoring. He was excited to give them a new home and that ended my eBay addiction. I never got far enough into the addiction to actually sell anything or make a business out of it but I learned I'm not good at buying things from eBay.
